Environmentally friendly
Jakarta – Car free day.
Zero Energy Architecture is
on its way to becoming the next hot trend in the sustainable energy market. It
aims to design zero carbon design buildings that generate the same amount of
energy used throughout the year.
These green buildings utilise
a number of features to maintain the net zero energy consumption, such as solar
panels, tinted windows absorbing only light and no heat, geothermal energy, as
well as others, varying across different building designs.
The John and Frances Angelos Law Center of the University of Baltimore, U.S. is one that consumes net zero energy; it is platinum LEED certified, attempting to help the institution become more energy efficient, plus more appealing.
This trend is just being
introduced to the world, currently concentrated in the U.S. with 32 verified
zero net energy buildings throughout the country, plus another 110 buildings in
awaiting verification or already in development. These building projects will gradually
spread throughout the world as more individuals and companies begin to see the
value of minimal energy bills. Environmental friendliness is also a good image
for companies.
Jakarta is where approximately
40% of the world's geothermal capacity exists; and there are plans for a zero
net energy 99 storey skyscraper to be designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.
The large scale project
will utilise a geothermal plant, together a wind tunnel atop the building, as
well as other energy retention technology types to supply enough power for
sustained operation.
Finally, as the world
transitions to green buildings and LEED certification requirements, natural gas
will be best for fuel as it is a cleaner replacement of coal. Furthermore,
there will be a number of natural gas profit opportunities investors may
benefit from.
