The Ministry of
Trade is hosting the largest trade show of Indonesia - the 29th Trade Expo
Indonesia (TEI), from 8th – 12th October later this year.
The international exhibition is to be held in the Jakarta International Expo
(JIExpo), with a ‘Towards Green Business’ theme.
This
theme follows President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the 2nd ASEAN
Summit which took place last 19th June at Nadi, Fiji Islands, as a
statement was made referring that the green economy is significant for
Indonesia’s resilience. Green economy has become a new economic paradigm, promoting
economic progress without harming natural wealth and resources.
TEI
2014 will be hosted in an area covering 40,000m2, expecting 2,000
exhibitors targeting an audience of 10,000 people. The products to be on show will
include main export commodities, prospective exports commodity, as well as
other export products. This is as well as products and services from
well-trained labour, including professional, hospitality and construction
services.
These
products will highlight the continuity of the company in operating a green
business, made with focus towards social environment aspects and so products do
not just meet the standards of aesthetics and function. Another key factor to
be considered is fair trade. This aspect, amongst others, is shown by fairness
to all interested and Indonesian businessmen’s ability to meet fair trade’s international
standards.
The
use of environmentally friendly technologies together with local knowledge has become
an added value to the Indonesian export product competitiveness. With
downstream strategy and full understanding of appropriate technology of
international standard, it is expected to support the growth of Indonesia’s
trade sector forward.
TEI
2014 is a great effort to increase and maintain exports. Aside from intensive
facilitation for audiences and exhibitors, the revamp of the exhibition
management, exhibitor recruitment, information services and buyers’ services
are crucial factors which will continue to improve the quality for the success
of the yearly TEI.
TEI
2014 is also to feature in the Pride of Indonesia and ASEAN Pavilions. Pride of
Indonesia Pavilion will display pride of Indonesia, a local brand that has gained
global markets, such as strategic industries, manufacturing, hi-tech, the
winner of Primaniyarta 2014, natural resource based products, SMEs seed and the
products of creative industries. Meanwhile, the ASEAN Pavilion is set up as an
information booth of ASEAN representatives to welcome the ASEAN Economic
Community by 2015.
For
this to succeed, the Directorate General of National Export Development in cooperation
with the Ministry of Trade, the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO), Chamber
of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), plus other associations, all representative
offices abroad, as well as the Commercial Attaché and Indonesian Trade
Promotion Centre, are required to make efforts for overseas promotion.
By
development, TEI 2014 is expected to export market opportunities and access to
non-traditional areas, including Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America
and the Middle East which are increasingly open. TEI 2014 is also a great
effort to support the achievement of Indonesia’s exports totalling to 4.16%
this year. During this year to next year, Indonesia’s main export markets are
expected to increase by 4 to 5%, as the prospective market is expected to increase
by 6.5 to 7.5%. There is optimism that export primary products will increase by
5.5 to 6.5%, with prospective product exports expected to increase by 9 to 10%.

with the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), business clinics, interactive dialogues,
articles and photo competitions for journalists, plus an essay competition for
college students, based upon ‘The Creation of New Entrepreneur’ – In addition
